Patrick is a lawyer and expert on bitcoin and blockchain-based technologies. Patrick Murck’s practice at Cooley as Special Counsel is focused on the legal and regulatory issues facing fintech and emerging payment systems. He is a fellow with the Berkman Klien Center for Internet & Society at Harvard University where he conducts research on the law and policy implications of bitcoin, distributed ledgers and smart contracts. Previously Patrick was a co-founder of the Bitcoin Foundation where he served at times as General Counsel and Executive Director. He was named among America’s 50 Outstanding General Counsel for 2014 by the National Law Journal. Patrick is a member of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York's Fintech Advisory Group.
